Getting Started Breastfeeding: The Immediate Post-Partum and Beyond


FIRST TUESDAY of each month at 7pm. 


This class will help expectant parents identify ways to facilitate and identify a good first latch which can lead to an easier and longer nursing relationship.The class is designed for the last trimester of pregnancy and will be offered monthly. A donation to the Uma Center is requested.

Natural Childbirth Education 8 Week Class

May 7th - June 25th at the Uma Center

Join the Palouse Doula Association as we begin our spring/summer
natural childbirth classes. This eight week session will inspire you and
your partner to have the best birth possible at home or in the hospital.

Some of the topics covered include:

Exercise and nutrition, gestation, the three stages of labor, labor
coaching, natural pain management techniques, labor positions, birth
planning, decision making, variations and interventions, postpartum
and breastfeeding. Classes are hands-on and include handouts, videos
and speakers.

Each class is designed to be a springboard, encouraging women and
their partners to find information that fits well with their individual
needs and lifestyles.

Infant Massage

Mondays, April 30-May 21
9-10am

Learn the art of Infant Massage for your child.
Class designed for children up to 1 year of age with techniques that can be used throughout your child's life.
Certified Infant Massage Instructor, Tara Hoger, teaches this 4 week class.

Natural Childbirth 'Refresher' Class

The Palouse Doula Association (PDA) is offering a Natural Childbirth Refresher class.
Saturday, April 14th 
9:00 am to 12 noon
  
 The class schedule and details are as follows:
 1.  Review the stages of labor 
 2.  Tayna's Birth Video
 3.   Positions for Labor
 4.   Labor Rehearsal (two contractions for each labor position!)
 5.   Relaxation (several methods will be explored during this time!)
  
     This class usually takes 2 1/2 - 3 hours.  We plan to have light snacks available, water/tea, and a 20 minute break in the middle of the class.  Please feel free to bring any snacks you may like for yourself and partner, or some to share.  We have worked hard to make this class very hands-on and interactive. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a pillow or yoga mat to give your tired knees a little cushion while we practice position changes.
